Wellness Center
Approximately 10 million Americans consult their physicians
every year about sleep complaints.
This makes
sleep related problems the third most common complaint to
physicians. Some of the most common symptoms of a sleep
disorder include:
If you or
someone you know experiences any of these symptoms, talk to
a physician about a sleep study at Little River Healthcare
System’s Sleep Wellness Center.
Our Sleep
Wellnes Center can help.
The LRHS
Sleep Wellness Center is a comprehensive program that brings
state-of-the-art sleep medicine to our community.
Today most
sleep disorders can be effectively treated, but the first
step is an accurate diagnosis. Our Sleep Wellness center
offers diagnostic testing that can help your physician
determine the nature of your sleep-related problem.
Perhaps you
live with someone who snores, causing both of you to have
restless nights. While most snoring is harmless, loud and
continuous snoring may be a warning sign for a serious and
life-threatening illness called a sleep disorder. Sleep
disorders have been linked to an increased incidence of
heart disease, high blood pressure, stroke, and sudden
death.
Some of the
most common sleep disorders include:
-
Sleep
apnea
-
Insomnia
-
Snoring
-
Sleep
Walking
-
Narcolepsy
-
Teeth
grinding
-
Seizures
-
Restless leg syndrome
At our
Sleep Wellness Center, patients undergo a sleep study.
In this
non-evasive procedure, a patient’s electroencephalographic
(EEG) brain waves, pulmonary function, oxygen levels and
vital signs are monitored and recorded during each sleep
stage. All patients are visually monitored as well.
By comparing the readings, physicians can detect sleep
disorders and prescribe treatments. Generally, results can
be obtained in one overnight stay. All sleep studies
performed at the Sleep Wellness Center are interpreted by
physician specialists with expertise in recognizing,
diagnosing and prescribing treatment for sleep disorders.
Test results are sent directly to your physician for
follow-up treatment.
Most insurance plans and Medicare provide coverage for sleep
studies. If you or someone you know may be suffering from a
sleep disorder, contact the specialists at the Little River
Healthcare System Sleep Wellness Center today.
Contact
your primary care physician or The Specialty Clinic of
